The word "Monte" means in Alentejo, the house of the big farms in the region.
However, the "Monte Alentejano" is in the center of Montemor-o-Novo.
A very old town where the voyage of Vasco da Gama was decided by portuguese King D. Manuel I.
Raul David, an architect well known in Évora and in the entire region, by his knowledge of the classic local architecture, projected the building in 1951.
The "Monte Alentejo" is a restaurant, with excellent regional food, a hotel with fine accommodations, and an Art Gallery.
